R U Afraid to Yahoo?

I’m just nutty about communication.  Since I’ve been prez of this wacky org, we’ve tried
to increase the ways SCCS news gets out.  Our website,
sccs-online.org, is updated every
couple of weeks.  Evites are sent out for every meeting.  Press releases are often printed in
the local newspapers and on-line.  Lynn Stedd collects member and visitor data at every
meeting just so we can stay in touch.  A hard copy of Slice of Wry is snail mailed to every
paid member.
Friday night Jack and I went to a fabulous art opening (a collection of openings,
actually) that included work by SCCS’ very own Jorge Pacheco.  And we weren’t the only
ones: We ran into Joe and Sue Schmidt, Dan McLintock and Cynthia Devereux, Sherry
Luft, Jorge and Sabina Pacheco and others.  The Arts Building on Kettner in Little Italy
holds these group shows once a month.  You can stroll from studio to studio sampling the
art, the wine and the guacamole free of charge.  Even the Harley Davidson showroom
downstairs was holding a huge bash for those who appreciate the art of hogs.  Needless
to say, the people-watching was also par excellence!  Afterwards we all got together
walked to a cool Italian restaurant.  Along the way, we checked out a few more art galleries
plus a beauty spa grand opening that had live go-go dancers in the window.  It was the
ideal evening.  How come we didn’t see you there? What could be better than artists
enjoying art and the art of making friends with club members you had always wanted to
get to know better?
How come you weren’t informed, you might ask?  Are you un-cool?  Well, if you didn’t
know about it, chances are you’re not a member of our wonderful free SccsOnline
YahooGroup.  Anyone can join, even non-SCCS members if they’re serious about
cartooning.  Any cartoonist who has an announcement of interest to other cartoonists –
even a last-minute one like Jorge had, can post a message and the entire membership will
get your news instantly!  And that’s not all that’s good about our Yahoo Group: Meeting
reminders are also sent out twice a month, an E copy of our monthly newsletter Slice of
Wry is available for download, and much much more.  Isn’t that great?  So why don’t you
sign up?
