We also had the pleasure of meeting football great Rolf Benirschke,  the Charger whose tragedy
was turned onto the triumph that inspired the first Charger Blood Drive 30 years ago.

Since sports always seem to have stats attached, here are ours:
15 = number of SCCS artists drawing caricatures for the annual San Diego Chargers Blood Drive
25 = average number of caricatures drawn by each SCCS artist
1664 = pints of blood collected
15 = number of people who asked "Where's Jim Whiting?"
2 = number of donor-models who asked if our own Joe Schmidt was once their beloved art
teacher from Hilltop High.
100 = number of people who mistook our own Wardell Brown for LaDainian Tomlinson (even
though LT is not known for being a sketch artist or for wearing the jersey of another player).
6 = number of jelly donuts missing after Greg Evans left the room

Regarding our regular Wednesday evening meeting (November 12).  Here is a missive I sent out
to our Yahoo Email group the next AM:  I'm still buzzing with excitement from the fantastic
meeting we had last night thanks to Joe Schmidt and Arlington Cruz!  With a live model
(double-jointed, methinks), arranged for by Arlington, we drew our largest crowd ever!  Many in
attendance were lapsed members we hadn't seen in months and even years!  (And with only 6 yes
Evite RSVPs, it was a pleasant surprise!)

Everything was planned carefully by Joe and Arlington, down to the background music!  There
was bountiful food!  There was marvelous mingling!  There were art lessons by Joe, for those
who thought they needed a brush-up.  Photos will be posted on the web in the next few days.
Looks like this will be a permanent event in the annual SCCS schedule, thanks to Joe and
Arlington!

Okay, so the photos (for both events)  took a little longer to be posted but here they are.  Ta dah!
